Profileプロフィール
TSENG TZU CHIA, born in 2001, currently enrolled in the Master of Fine Arts program at Taipei National University of the Arts, with a focus on ink painting. Working primarily with paper and ink, the practice explores how ink can be reconfigured within contemporary visual contexts, particularly in relation to formal structure and perception. Since 2024, the work has gradually shifted from narrative-driven imagery and layered color toward simplified, intuitive compositions. Through ongoing experimentation with ink on paper, the process examines the relationship between structure, rhythm, and spatial tension. Recent exhibitions include Flow Ends at the Surface at Songshan Cultural and Creative Park (2024), New Voices in Art at Dadun Cultural Center in Taichung (2024), and Spring Open Studio at the Department of Fine Arts, TNUA (2025).
Statementステイトメント
Recent work focuses on the relationship between objects and people. In April 2025, I created an anonymous exchange project where participants traded personal items without using money. Through this, I observed how people give meaning and value to everyday things when they are exchanged. These ideas became the basis for my painting practice. I started to look closely at objects we use often but rarely notice. In my paintings, I place these items next to their reflections and arrange them in small groups. This allows me to explore how meanings shift and how people may see these objects differently based on their own experiences. Rather than telling a clear story, the works reflect my interest in how value moves and changes through exchange and perception.
